Stories We Didn't Expect- An evening for mothers raising children with a disabilities

Motherhood doesn't always look the way we imagined it would. Join us for a special evening created for mothers raising children with disabilities of all kinds to connect, share, and feel understood.
The evening will include refreshments, opportunities for reflection and connection with other mothers, and an informal reading and conversation with Ashley Heyburn, author of Unexpectedly Perfect: A Mother's Memoir of Down Syndrome, Grief and Hope.
Ashley's story begins with a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome for her son, but explores experiences that reach far beyond a single diagnosis: grief, changing expectations, identity, advocacy, motherhood, and hope. Through readings from her book and honest conversation, we'll make space for the unexpected, the hard, the complicated, the beautiful, and everything in between.

A note about attendance: To help create space for meaningful conversation and connection, this evening is intended for mothers without children in attendance. Holiday Party

Join us for a festive Holiday Party for all families in the Down Syndrome Innovations community! This is a chance to celebrate the season together, connect with other DSI families, and enjoy a morning of community and cheer.
